For decades, BMW has been the master of coming up with unique and sought-after colors and is one of the few brands where enthusiasts casually know multiple color names off the top of their heads. Most of these colors become famous on a particular model of car but, they are frequently then available through the BMW Individual program on a wider range of more modern vehicles. Many companies have special divisions that allow some customers to select special features ranging from interior trim to unique exterior paint finishes. BMW's division is known as Individual and has been helping clients customize their vehicles since 1992 and the e90 generation M3 has some of the most unique specifications.

This 2011 BMW E90 M3 is an excellent example of one of the many great colors on offer from BMW's Individual Program. Finished in Azurite Black, the color looks black in most light but has a deep blue hue when it is hit by the sun and features a strong metal flake that really makes the car stand out. It is similar to the color Carbon Black that was offered on the e39 M5 but features less purple in the paint and unlike Carbon Black, is very durable and won't get swirlled with just the brush of a microfiber towel. The original owner of this car was the definition of a meticulous enthusiast who not only kept the car in top-notch, concours condition, but also kept extensive records on the car- including a timeline from first drive to European Delivery, to the car finally landing stateside. Optioned with the desirable Competition Pack, this car features split-spoke 19” wheels, a 10mm lower ride height and the electronic stability control allows for a bit more slip during aggressive driving. Additionally, this car was optioned with he quick shifting 7-speed DCT gearbox which allows for quick shifting on track without having to take your hands off the wheel, as well as ease of use when commuting around town. The only modification to note on this car is the addition of an Akrapovic exhaust system which looks almost stock, but provides an outstanding noise when really getting after it. It can't be overstated how stunning the condition of this car is- at the time of catalouging it shows fewer than 30,000 miles and even that is hard to believe when looking around the vehicle.

The interior of the car continues the black theme from the outside, optioned with black Novillo extended leather throughout the cabin. One of the first signs of use on sporty cars like this with large seat bolsters, is creases in the seat leather- this car exhibits almost none of those and the seats, steering wheel and center console even show a nearly matte finish as if the car were brand new. Another interesting option on this car was the selection of piano black trim on dash, and door cards- it looks stunning in this application and it is hard to imagine a finish that would have worked better in this application.
