Description

Maserati is a company that built its name off powerful, front-engined, beautiful sports coupes and when the GranTurismo coupe came out, it followed that classic formula. After a few decades of lackluster products, the GranTurismo became a best seller for Maserati and sold more than 40,000 units through the 11-year production run. At its debut, the GranTurismo was powered by a stout 4.2-liter V8 but with the introduction of the “S” in 2008, that engine was punched out to 4.7-liters and was shared with the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Unlike most Maseratis to come before it, the GranTurismo has proven to be a pretty reliable and usable car every day and is a great option for someone who wants a great looking Italian car that won't be in the shop on a monthly basis.

Built in July of 2016, this Maserati GranTurismo Sport is finished in a striking shade of blue that Maserati calls “Blu Sophisocato” which fits the shape of the car exceptionally well. At the time of cataloging, the car shows just 7,957 miles on the odometer and is in excellent condition throughout. As a 2016, this GranTurismo Sport benefits from the mid-cycle refresh that implemented numerous modifications from the earlier MC Stradale into the car's bodywork, giving it a far more aggressive and sporty appearance. The standard GranTurismo Sport wheels have been finished in dark gray and are accented by a set of bright yellow brake calipers behind them. Overall, it can't be denied that this is a very pretty car and that is only made even more apparent by the bright blue paint and dark wheels.

On the interior, the GranTurismo has been ordered with black leather on both the front and back seats which is complimented by silver carbon fiber trim throughout the cabin. To add some color to the inside, the seats have been stitched in an optional yellow thread with the company's Trident logo sitting prominently on the front headrests. A major upgrade with the previously mentioned mid-cycle refresh was the addition of a set of more heavily bolstered sport seats-a huge improvement over those found in the previous cars.

Powering this GranTurismo Sport is an upgraded version of the previous car's 4.7-liter V8 which now produces 454 horsepower. One of the hallmarks of the GranTurismo is the sound that comes out of the exhaust- at startup, the car makes a pleasant burble that turns into an exotic scream as you wind the engine toward redline. This GranTurismo has been fitted with a ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox with large paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Although it was offered with a single clutch automated manual in some markets, this transmission fits the car well and is both more reliable and far better around town.

If owning an Italian car has always been on your bucket list, you could do much worse than a GranTurismo Sport. This example with its low miles and great specification will prove to be enjoyable to own and use for years to come and is sure to put a smile on your face every time you do a cold start. Whether you are hoping to daily drive it or keep it in the garage for the weekend, this GranTurismo can do it all.
