Description

To many enthusiasts, the E90 generation of BMW M3 was the last real M car from the brand and represents the pinnacle of the M Division's naturally aspirated engine program. Since the brand's first street car, the M1 went on sale in 1978, M has built a reputation on stout naturally aspirated engines, that rely heavily on high revs, snappy throttle response, and individual throttle bodies. With a few rare exceptions, this is the formula that BMW built the M department's name on and once the E90 generation M3 went out of production in 2013, so did the naturally aspirated, individual throttle body motors we all came to love.

Produced in 2012, this E92 M3 is a stunning example painted in BMW Individual Monte Carlo Blue which, when combined with the Competition Package on this car, is one of just 18 cars like it in the US and Canada. At the time of cataloging, the car shows 56,624 miles and has been kept in exceptional condition from new, recently receiving a host of important preventative maintenance items. This M3 has been kept in outstanding shape over the past 11 years and is equipped with just a few small modifications, that work wonders towards enhancing the look, without going overboard.

On the inside, the seats are finished in a rare shade of Silver Novillo leather, which has been paired to the Carbon-Leather interior trim, present on the dashboard. From the factory, this M3 was equipped with the Premium Package which fits the car with all of the comfort features you would hope for in a modern performance coupe including rear park distance control and Comfort Access. This car's previous owner fitted a gloss carbon fiber center console which is clearly quite high quality and really improves the overall appearance of the interior, as well as a thicker flat-bottom steering wheel with perforated leather and Alcantara.

The S65 V8 under the hood is one of the greatest engines to ever come out of BMW M- lightweight but extremely powerful and high revving, this is without a doubt a fitting send-off to the naturally aspirated cars of the M Dividison's past. The S65 is a very stout motor but does have a few weak points- namely the rod bearings and throttle actuators. Thankfully the new owner of this e92 need not worry as both of those issues were addressed by reputable BMW shops in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area in 2021. Although largely unmodified, this M3 does benefit from an Evolve Stage 2 tune which raises the redline to 8,500 rpm and also sharpens up the DCT double-clutch gearbox, fitting it with the same tune found on the Europe-only M3 GTS. A Dinan exhaust is affixed in the rear which adds a bit of noise when you get on the throttle but doesn't drone around town.

It seems like almost as soon as the E90 M3 went out of production, people were already calling on it as a future classic. With its brilliant engine, sublime handling, and dual-purpose, street, and sports car abilities, it is the perfect do-anything vehicle that will always put a smile on your face when you get behind the wheel. Finding one that has been this well-kept is getting more difficult but finding one in such a unique color, with a few nice modifications and preventative maintenance taken care of is even harder.
