Description

2013 marked the final year of production for the E90 series BMW. This beloved chassis had become the gold standard for useable sports cars and was a landmark car for the company in many ways. Its departure marked the end of naturally aspirated engines in M products and also saw BMW put less of its development efforts into manual transmissions, in an effort to push consumers towards the DCT option. Given these reasons, it is no surprise that the E90 M3s have become more appreciated by collectors in recent years, and values of high-quality examples have begun to trend upwards- frequently nearing or surpassing the original MSRP of the cars.

This 2013 BMW M3 Coupe is a beautiful example presented in Jet Black over a black leather interior that shows just 27,085 miles from new on the odometer. The overall condition of this car is absolutely outstanding with mirror-like paint around the vehicle and the particularly desirable “LCI” headlight and taillight treatment. Although almost entirely unmodified, this car does benefit from the addition of Competition Pack 19” wheels and clear side indicators which both give the car an even cleaner look and make it a truly cohesive package.

On the inside, black leather covers the seats, steering wheel, and shifter and the unique “carbon look” leather trim is present on the dashboard. Given that the E90 M3 was a very high-end car for the era, it comes with all of the convenience features you would hope for in a luxury car even today. Dual-zone HVAC as well as heated seats and what is arguably the best iteration of i-Drive from BMW thanks to the combination of scroll knob and the “hot key” buttons to help you more easily navigate the menus. What is really remarkable about this car when you open the door, is how flawless the interior is. The black leather seats look like they haven't even been sat in and the steering wheel retains much of the matte finish that it would have had when new.

Powering the E90 generation M3 is the infamous S65 DOHC V8 which produces 414 horsepower and revs all the way to 8,400 rpm. As the final naturally aspirated M engine from BMW, this one certainly did make a statement. With 8 individual throttle bodies and VANOS variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust cams, the S65 is capable of providing gobs of low-end power, while still revving higher than almost any other V8 on the market and making power all the way around the tachometer. In addition, it makes a killer noise that is low and muscley at idle but transitions to a high pitch scream as you rev it out. This example was specified with a 6-speed manual transmission which is the best choice for this car. Offering positive shift throws and smooth clutch actuation, a manual E90 M3 is a joy to drive around town and a blast when the roads get curvy.

The E92 M3 was only built until June of 2013, meaning that this January build car is one of the final examples to come into the United States. Many of these end-of-run cars were specified with the DCT gearbox, making this manual transmission car even more rare. If the E92 M3 was ever a car you hoped to own, there are few examples out there in better condition than this car, and as an almost end-of-the-run car, this is as good as the E92 ever got.
