Description

BMW has always been great at bringing out a performance car that is wonderful out of the box, which they then have their engineers refining it as the model run goes along. The F82 M4 is no exception to this, and although the base model was both fast and comfortable, it lacked a bit of sporting edge that a real enthusiast might desire. Because of this, in 2019, they debuted the M4 CS. The CS was not vastly different from the standard M4- but in the way that only BMW can, hundreds of small things around the car were changed, making a standard M4 evolve into a truly special car. Through extensive usage of carbon fiber, paired with an increase in power, the M4 CS was capable of a stunning 7:38 lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, which puts it neck-in-neck with the likes of the Lexus LFA and Ferrari 458 Italia on the world's most challenging track. This is no small feat, especially considering the M4 CS still retains a pair of rear seats, an interior full of comfort and safety features, and a trunk large enough to swallow suitcases for a week away.

This 2019 BMW M4 CS is finished in Lime Rock Gray over black leather and Alcantara interior and shows just 18,433 miles from new. Presented in absolutely stunning condition, this M4 CS has a truly mean stance, sitting low on the CS-specific 20” wheels finished in dark gray. Just behind those wheels are a set of carbon ceramic brakes clamped by metallic gold calipers- these look unbelievable behind the dark wheels and are a great focal point on the otherwise subdued exterior. One of the things that separates the M4 CS from the standard M4 is all of the carbon fiber that BMW implemented in the production of this car. This lightweight material makes up the hood, front splitter, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, and roof- this keeps the center of weight lower and adds torsional rigidity to the car that lightweight metals just can't offer.

The interior design won't look unfamiliar to a previous M4 owner but has several unique features that aren't seen on the standard car. When you open the door, you notice that the door card is made of lightweight material, significantly lighter than the leather-covered unit in the standard M4, and features a pull strap with M-colored stitching. The seats feature ample bolstering and a pleasant combination of leather and Alcantara to keep the occupants in place, even when pushing on at the track. Alcantara covers the steering wheel, dashboard, and center console, which is a unique design weighing 30% less than the standard unit.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6, the M4 CS produces a staggering 454 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed DCT gearbox. 0-60 mph acceleration is quoted at 3.7 seconds, and 100 mph comes up in just 8.2 while the top speed is electronically limited to 174 mph. The CS also receives plenty of unique chassis tuning, with a specially calibrated limited-slip differential and a custom-tuned steering rack for an improved turn-in.

Not only is this car special because of all the tweaks BMW carried out, but it is also a true modern-day collectible, and between 2019 and 2020, BMW only produced 1,000 examples for the United States market. There have been a lot of great BMW driver's cars over the years, and there are some that particular drivers prefer over others. But as a proper track weapon that can also be used for a drive to the office, it's hard to beat an M4 CS.
